Joni and Friends awarded 2008 Silver Telly Award; shares with NRB Network
The “Joni and Friends” television program - hosted by disability advocate and Christian author, Joni Eareckson Tada - was recently bestowed a distinct honor as a 2008 Silver Telly Award winner. The highest given by the Telly Council, the award was made in recognition of the episode entitled “The Prison That Set Me Free” and was selected from 13,500 entries. “Joni and Friends”, which debuted exclusively on the NRB Network in October 2007, graciously shared the award with their broadcast partner.
In a letter to NRB Network Director of Programming, Allen Beckner, dated February 9, 2009, “Joni and Friends” President, Doug Mazza said:
“This award is not just for the creative team – this award also reflects the inspiring message of the Gospel that was presented in this episode through our partnership with NRB. I am privileged to send your statuette as a reminder that God always blesses our efforts to expand His kingdom.”
The award, pictured above, is prominently displayed at NRB Network headquarters in Nashville, Tennessee.
The Telly Awards, which commemorate their 30th anniversary this year, are presented in honor of outstanding local, regional, and cable television commercials and programs, as well as the best video and film productions, and work created for the Web. The awards are given annually.
Joni and Friends is a weekly television program about the sufficiency of God’s Word for every life situation. A major emphasis of the program is on ministering to people and families affected by disability. NRB Network viewers can watch “Joni and Friends” on Mondays at 7:30 pm ET and Fridays at 7 pm ET.
